Hello Home Brewers, do you have a favorite Brew Blog or other Website, want more traffic to your site?

Hello fellow Brew Lovers, I know, I haven’t written in a while, let me explain why.

I have several hobbies, and building websites is one of them, and that is what I have been doing. As a brewer, and beer drinker, this will always be a top concern of mine, not just my brewing and drinking, but promoting the hobby in general. I get calls from other brewers who have found this site, and are looking for a homebrew club near them, and can’t find one. Why can’t they find the other sites out there? That is an easy one, they don’t get promoted the way this site does. I spend a lot of time on promoting a lot of websites and have finally decided to build a special site that will help my fellow brewers to promote, not just their favorite brew sites, but their business sites as well!

Many of the webmasters out there are home brewers, many have multiple sites, and everybody has been to those “autosurf” sites, wanting what those sites have to offer, but don’t want to have to look at a bunch of “get rich quick”, “E-mail Harvesters”, or other scam sites, the list could go on forever. So, when I built this site, there were several things that I learned, as a surfer myself for years, I knew what I was sick and tired of seeing, and those things are not allowed on this site!

Why you might ask? An autosurf site is very useful in several ways, first, the more traffic to your site, the better it ranks, so it comes up in the searches people do all day long! Second, people see your site and could possibly get involved with whatever it is you are doing or promoting. However, if your site is buried with all of the junk, who can find it?

If you have a website that you would like to promote, I would like to invite you to join, and yes, it is FREE, but you do need to surf a bit, that is what makes it all work! So, come take a look, register, and surf! TrafficComplex.com

When you join, you will receive 3000 FREE credits to apply to the sites you want to promote, not to mention referral bonus for anyone else you refer, and yes again, it is FREE! If you are a reader of any of my Blogs, or the posts they contain, you know that I am about half crazy, so when you are an active surfer, you will get all kinds of free credits by watching the surfbar, just click the link and they will get added to your account!

There is also a blog incorporated into this site, it is even the home page, so that you can see what is going on at the site on your way to login or register! We have also added a forum, bulletin board, or whatever you want to call it, so that we can all share our knowledge and report problem websites that somehow slip through the cracks.

So, get you a cold brew, sign up, surf, and tell everybody you know, it will help your sites get seen, and we all need that!

16 Lawn Mower Safety Tips

16 Lawn Mower Safety Tips
by Sarah June

1. Always read the instruction manual before operating your lawnmower. I know it sounds boring but there is a very good reason you are supposed to read it (didn’t you ever wonder why you were never able to set the time on your vcr?).

2. Always pick up all foreign objects before you start mowing. Types of items that can adversely affect your mower are rocks, branches (even small twigs sometimes), kids toys, hoses.

3. Don’t allow children or pets to play in the yard while you are mowing the lawn.

4. Take note of what the instruction manual says about handling your lawn mower. If it says to push it then don’t pull it. Sounds obvious, but some mowers are built to go in a specific direction.

5. Don’t fill the tank of the lawn mower with gas in an enclosed area such as under the house, in a garage or in a shed. This can lead to a buildup of combustible fumes.

6. Don’t smoke anything and keep any other kind of open flame far away while filling your gas tank.

7. Avoid storing oil, gas and petrol in unmarked containers, especially containers that have been previously used for something edible.

8. Don’t add fuel to your lawnmower while the engine is running or the mower is still hot.

9. Fill your gas tank before starting your mowing each time you use your mower.

10. Young kids should not be allowed to operate your lawn mower. If you are going to let your child operate your lawn mower make sure you give them clear instructions and a full safety briefing before they begin and, depending on their age, never leave them alone.

11. Remove the spark plug before doing any maintenance work on your lawn mower.

12. Do not start the engine while you are inside any type of enclosed area (shed, building etc). This could lead to a toxic build up of fumes.

13. Don’t walk away from the lawn mower while the engine is running. If you do have to walk away a short distance (such as to carry mulch) make sure you keep a good eye on the lawn mower at all times.

14. If you need to make some types of adjustments to the lawn mower mechanics then always make sure that the engine is switched off.

15. Always wear closed shoes and long pants while mowing.

16. Keep well clear of the discharge chute during lawn mowing as dangerous objects can be hurled at quite a velocity from the chute.

Getting a Riding Lawn Mower

Getting a Riding Lawn Mower
by Charles Kassotis

For many people, a mower that one stands behind to steer or push is sufficient. Most of our lawns just aren’t that big. However, for people who have a larger amount of yard to mow, a riding lawn mower can be the answer. The general rule is that if you have at least half an acre to mow, a riding mower is a good way to get this done. Riding lawn mowers are also sometimes called lawn tractors.

There are a few considerations to keep in mind when purchasing a lawn tractor. First, you should assess your situation and determine whether you can afford a riding lawn mower. Then you need to determine whether or not you have enough storage space for a lawn tractor. You will not want to leave it outside, where the elements can ruin it. A small shed is often a good place to store a riding lawn mower.

After you have decided to buy the mower, it is off to the store to compare models. You can expect to pay anywhere between $800 and $3,000 for your riding lawn mower. There are many different models to choose from, and the features offered will help determine the price. For instance, if you want a lawn tractor with a hydrostatic drive (these are often easier to operate and smoother than other riding mowers), you can expect to add $200 to $500 to the price. It is important for you to decide what your needs are before you go into the store.

You should know what sort of obstacles are in your yard. Figure out how much space you have between rocks, trees, and other elements of your landscape. The deck of the mower is the size of the blade. You have a larger cutting swath when you have a bigger blade. Try to find a deck that is between 38 and 42 inches wide. Be careful, though! If you get a mower with too wide of a deck, you will have to go back and mow between all of those obstacles with a regular lawn mower.

Knowing what sort of mowing you normally do will also help. Many mowers come with the ability to switch between modes. You should know how difficult it is to switch between mulching, bagging, or sending the clippings out the side. If you plan to do a little of all three, a lawn tractor that switches easily between modes is a good idea. Also find out how convenient it is to adjust the cutting height of the blade.

Other bits of information you should get on the riding lawn mowers you are considering include engine placement (the more powerful are in the front, but this cuts down visibility), speed controls, foot controls, gear levers, and clutch-brake combos. You should also find out whether or not the lawn tractor is easy to brake and steer, and how wide of a turning radius it has. See if you can sit in the tractor to determine how comfortable it is.

How To Build A Barbecue For Under $1

How To Build A Barbecue For Under $1
by The Barbecue Smoker Recipe Man

I went into my local garden centre recently to find that the whole place have been completely re-vamped and a massive area dedicated to barbecues and smokers. What did this tell me?……..Two things:-

1. Barbecue grills and smokers continue to become more popular recreational equipment. 2. Theres money to be made!

Lets face it; the smartest ‘in your face’ displays have got to be for the products that carry the biggest margins, right? Having spoken to the manager I think maybe its the accessories where a killing can be made but whatever the case, you can quite easily spend a serious amount of cash on a new barbecue grill and that will be completely wasted money if you buy the wrong thing.

Consider the situation twenty odd years ago before modern manufacturing techniques, globalisation and low cost country sourcing, the situation was even worse for someone with no income and lots of leisure time (you guessed it, I was a student!). CDs had just appeared on the music shelves (a big drain on cash compared to vinyl), I dont think the word download was in our vocabulary and certainly the thought of getting free barbecue recipes off the internet could be nothing more than a dream.

I was doing what students do best - having one long party! But the opportunity to have a barbecue party was nil because we simply couldnt afford to buy a barbecue, and to a confirmed outdoor cooking enthusiast. It was at this point that I decided to build my homemade brick barbecue out of 16 second hand bricks and two cake cooling trays.

Not only is this a great low cost introduction to charcoal barbecue grills its also a wonderfully portable system too. Simply lay 8 bricks on the ground in two rows of four to make a square. On two sides place 2 bricks (on their sides) and place another 2 bricks on top so that in cross section youve now got a U shape. Throw the charcoal on the brick base a span two cake cooling grids across the top and there you have it.

The cake cooling trays are really cheap in the supermarket and (as a true student has to) the bricks were acquired one night from a local housing development. So with the barbecue complete, how did I get hold of some good free BBQ recipes? Well thats where it all started to fall apart and a process of enthusiastic trial and error began. Im pleased to say that those early formative years have paid off handsomely; all my friends still love my outdoor cooking and so much so that www.BBQ smoker recipes.com was born to document mine and my friends tasty creations.

If you do give the low cost barbecue a try, notice how the bricks heat up and create an ‘all round’ heat. Not only is it cheap, its actually very effective too!

Best Lawn Care Equipment For Really Easy Lawn Care

Best Lawn Care Equipment For Really Easy Lawn Care
by Martin Haworth

If you want the best looking lawn, or even just one that is good enough to look out on as you enjoy a beautiful day, you will need to put some effort in. To minimize that, mechanization could be your answer!

There are some great time-saving tools around these days, that will take the chore out of your lawn as well as getting you sitting out on it enjoying it just as soon as possible! Even if you spend laborious hours on it, its still possible that it wont end up perfect, but it will look way better.

Many people begrudge the effort and time it takes. Maybe its these very same people who also feel aggrieved that lawn care equipment can be a bit heavy on the pocket. Like all things in life, it can be hard to get a balance between what is a reasonable expenditure and whether it is worth it in the first place - Whats in it for me?, in this investment I make!

By buying reasonable lawn care equipment, you will have every opportunity to have a beautiful lawn, if thats what you are seeking.

So, here are some of the most important implements that will help you get the lawn you really want.

Your Lawnmower - The Most Valuable Time-Saving Power-Tool

To spend your rest time cutting a lawn laboriously, is pretty much agreed by gardeners across all spectrums as a bit of a waste of time and effort. There must be better things to do than cut a lawn without proper lawn care equipment. Only the greatest purists who nurture and worship their lawn will resist buying a pretty good lawnmower as their most vital bit of lawn care equipment

There are two ways to do this, the hard way and the easy way. The hard way is a bog-standard mower that you push along without any motorization at all, but if you want to properly care for your lawn, youll need a decent mower that you can use without too much effort.

Of all the lawn care equipment thats out there, the mower is the one that youll get most use of and, if you choose correctly, it will be the one that makes the most impact on your lawn and saves you the most time.

If you are in doubt about which type of mower you might buy, just take a look at the lawn and areas involved. For a large, very flat lawn, you will need a powered mower, probably a sit-on one. For a small lawn, get yourself one that will cut just right for that lawn. Unless its to massage your ego, you dont need a sit-on mower for a lawn the size of a postage stamp!

With lawn mowers, there are plenty of different types to be found. For a reasonable choice that isnt too expensive, go for a pushmower, without the push. That is the self-propelled mower that is power-assisted - just helping you out when you need it and giving you the flexibility of complete control..

Edge Trimmers - Go On Then, Finish The Job

When youve done your mowing, the job isnt complete until youve gone round the edge too. In fact a well mown lawn will still look scruffy if your edges dont get done.

A good trimmer will be one item of lawn care equipment that will ice the cake and if used wisely, will enhance even the best mown garden, creating a look of quality that is hard to surpass.

This is one piece of garden equipment where mechanization can be harder to handle that doing it by hand, but with a twist. A good edge trimmer will be used manually, but will not only be very effective, it will also save you time and your back!

Yes, you can get those electrical or petrol/gas powered strimmer type edge trimmers when youre out buying your lawn care equipment, but for me, there is no better piece of kit than the odd looking shear type that you use with a sideways shuffle along your border. The trouble with strimmers is that they run so fast that it can be hard to control them.

Go for a good manual!

Like a Gentle Rain From Heaven

Last up in the key lawn care equipment that you will need to consider seriously when you are aiming for a great looking lawn, is a way to get it wet!

Having an effective sprinkler system in place will make a huge difference when you are looking at hot, thirsty summers. Could you imagine watering your whole lawn with a watering can?

No, I thought not.

Sprinklers come in a number of different arrangements. Some, which might be best of you want as little involvement as possible, will be built into your lawn and come on with a timer system, popping-up without warning - so watch out!

For a small lawn, at the other end of the spectrum, are simple movable sprinklers that you attach your hose to and move around. Takes your time and effort, but for a small lawn that might be a completely acceptable solution.

Whatever you decide on, make sure that before you buy, you understand what it is you want and then double-check that it will meet your expectations. Coverage, water volume, cost and time-saving are all worth covering before your trip to the garden center.

If you get yourself these three pieces of lawn care equipment to deal with these key lawn maintenance issues, you will really have sorted out most of the problems you might find.

Use these as well as you can and, before you know it, you will be sitting out there, cool drink in hand, admiring a beautiful lawn, produced, by you, with minimal effort!

Garden Tiller - What Type Do You Need

Garden Tiller - What Type Do You Need
by Mike D Tucker

Well its that time of year again to start busting up your garden soil and start your planting. How you do that is up to you. If you need the exercise or have a very small garden you could always do it by hand.

To save your back and knees you could go with a stand up manual garden till like the famous garden weasel. It is cheap and easy to use.

For medium or large gardens you are going to need a garden tiller with a little more power than your arms. So what type of tiller do you buy?

If you have a smaller or confined garden you will want to go with something maneuverable like an electric mini tiller or cultivator. Or maybe a small 2hp gas model. Most of them are lightweight and very easy to handle. Cost on them is reasonable too for the amount of work they will save you.

One of the biggest pluses for a small garden till is that it uses less storage space. If you buy one with folding handles you can save even more room. A word of warning though, I would not recommend using a small garden tiller to start a new garden where the soil has never been broken up before. You will need something a little more heavy duty to cultivate your soil for the first time.

Renting a large heavy-duty garden tiller the first year to bust up your soil and then get a small tiller for maintenance and cultivating the following year.

Front tine vs. rear tine

The best purpose for a front tine tiller is maintaining soil that has been cultivated before. Start out the first time with a rear tine tiller.

Rear tine tillers are easy to handle and maneuver. They will pretty much turn on a dime when needed and require much less effort from the operator. The majority of rear tine tillers can handle any garden job that you require from them.

What Brand To Buy There are many different brand names in the garden tiller business. Some of the better known garden tiller brands are, Troy Bilt Garden tillers, Mantis Tillers, Honda Tillers, Husqvarna Garden Tillers, Craftsman Tillers, and MTD Tillers. Prices and models vary a lot so the best thing you can do is shop around and compare after you have decided on what type you need for your garden.

If you are a vegetable garden grower I recently read a book called vegetable garden secrets that is going to change the way I garden. I highly recommend it. You can find it on our site.

Using Garden Tractors Safely

Using Garden Tractors Safely
by Andrew Caxton

Garden tractors are a very useful piece of kit. Selecting a model that is right for your plot and knowing how to operate it safely will ensure you get the most out of your new machine.

Garden Tractors: A Useful Tool For Gardeners Looking at the historical development of tractors, the piece that follows is aimed at non-professional gardeners looking for useful tips on how to select the right tractor to maintain their garden, how to operate it safely and save fuel.

The Early Days Steam engine garden tractors first appeared in the late 1800s, followed just before World War I by diesel engines. They were soon found of great use in farms by making labor-intensive tasks such as digging and moving soil significantly easier.

Choosing the Right Garden Tractor For Your Plot The model you chose mostly depend on the size of the plot you are looking at cultivating and maintaining with it. A small tiller with around 2 to 3 HP would be fine for a plot of lass than an acre, but you may want to invest in a more powerful machine of 15 to 20 HP for anything bigger than 5 acres, especially if you intend to move large rocks with it. If you can get a contractor to remove the stones as a one-off job a smaller tractor may be fine for general garden upkeep.

Operating Your Tractor Safely It is essential to follow a few easy safety rule to avoid accidents as even a minor mishap could make it difficult for you to get help.

• The tractor should always be purposefully designed for the tasks you are using it for, and well maintained. • Always wear your seat belt to be protected though it wont help much if the tractor ends up upside down. • Check out the route on foot first for possible problems especially if you are planning to drive fully loaded on an unfamiliar path for any significant distance. • Always remain focused on what you are doing, and keep your eyes firmly on the job. • Dont EVER give a ride to anyone on a garden tractor. • Check that the tractor is stable when in parked position, and always use the hand brake if there is a chance its own weight could cause it to move.

How to Save Fuel • Always keep your tractor in well-maintained condition. • The tractor should be serviced on a regular basis to ensure the fuel filters are changed and the injectors clean. The use of fuel additive may help lower the servicing frequency. • Air filters should also be kept cleaned and replaced at intervals as like fuel filters they have a significant effect on fuel efficiency. • Finally the tractor should not be made to carry a greater load than that it is designed for.

8 Simple Tips to Keep Your Lawn Mower Running

8 Simple Tips to Keep Your Lawn Mower Running
by Sarah June

1. If you have a non-electric mower which runs on petrol or gas have a look in the instruction manual to find out how to check and change the oil. Check the oil level often, add more oil when necessary and change it when it’s dirty.

2. Store the lawn mower in a shed or in some kind of protective environment so that it isn’t sitting in the elements.

3. Check your lawn mower to see if it contains instructions for sharpening your mower blade. Some lawn mowers do encourage you to sharpen the blade and others do not. If the manual does direct you to sharpen the blade then do so frequently.

4. The best time to mow your lawn is after any dew from the night before has had time to evaporate. This means that the late afternoon is usually better than the morning as the grass cuts better when it’s dry and the humidity has left the air. Also, wet grass can cause problems with the mower and generally just makes a bigger mess!

5. Try mowing your lawn in different directions each time you mow. This will help keep your lawn healthy and will reduce the likelihood of any patterns forming over multiple sessions.

6. Make sure you keep the fuel and oil that you pour into your mower as free of foreign objects as possible. No matter what your daughter insists, her bottle of moisturizer added to the gas tank will probably not make your lawn mower run any better.

7. Take the time to clean the grass off the underside of the mower from time to time. Make sure the mower is off before you attempt to clean the underside. Make sure if you are going anywhere near the blade you disconnect the spark plug wire first.

8. Clean the air intake for the mower. Combustion (petrol or gas) engines need some type of air intake to run correctly and if the air intake on your mower is clogged with grass then the mower won’t run at peak efficiency.
