What do you charge?

Designing a website, and the amount of time required depends on what you
want and how complicated the layout. Will you need a logo? Animations? Page
rank? A forum? Flash design? I could go on.

Here is an example of how to get started. (Using Yahoo Hosting )

First, what will your site name be, follow the link to Yahoo below to search and
register your domain. What level or plan will you need? Will you need an
e-commerce site? Just so you know,This site is a "Web Hosting Starter"

You set up and register your domain name with Yahoo.

Then, if you want a standard Yahoo template, you select it and set it up using
Yahoo Sitebuilder, this is a wonderful tool!

You then enter any text content, such as what you are reading now.

After this is complete, you add photos or artwork and so on, and on, and on.

(Yahoo is my Host, I have had sites with others in the past, and yes, some are
cheaper, but that dollar or two isn't worth the simplicity and benefits of Yahoo.)

By now you are probably wondering if Yahoo pays me, NO!   Am I on their list of
recommended designers or affiliated with them in any way? NO  Then  what am I
selling? Help, in other words, my time and experience.

Check with Yahoo, look at what they have, maybe you can do it yourself, maybe
you don't want to invest your time, maybe you'll get stuck?  Find out what others
charge, how much do you want to spend? How much time do you want to invest?

So, back to what does it cost? What I will do is figure blocks of time and tell you
up front, in most cases, bigger jobs may take more than I can guesstimate, but I
will tell you that before we agree on an amount,  then, using Google Checkout,  
you make payment of half upfront and the balance upon completion.

Ok, Ok, how long does it take to do a site? Depending on the text content etc, a
minimum of five hours. Yes, it can be done in minutes, if you use the standard
templates and don't have much content, but five hours is not much. I will have too
many hours invested in this site before I am done, I am a perfectionist! After I get
it done, I go through and clean it up! So, as a minimum of 5 hours being the
starting point, how does $100 dollars sound?

If I tell you five hours and it takes eight, you just pay me for the five!  See the rates
